Maintenance Section Supervisor
Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285 bed, state owned, nursing home for veterans and is located in Jessamine County.
Must be a High school graduate. Must have five years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades or mechanical maintenance experience. Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis. Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for year basis.
Manages and supervises the Maintenance Department of Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in the maintenance of buildings, facilities and adjacent grounds. Plans and directs the day-to-day work of the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center’s Maintenance Department employees engaged in the maintenance of the facility’s buildings and grounds per the preventative maintenance plan and as work orders are requested by other departments within the facility. Approve overtime and leave requests. Schedules work assignments for Thomson-Hood Veterans Center Maintenance Department employees and assures work plans are followed. Inspect and check the work of employees on their assigned work projects to ensure proper completion, safety and communication of any delays or problems to the Maintenance Branch Manager. Maintains an adequate supply of equipment and materials to ensure accomplishment of assigned jobs. Maintains records of time worked, materials used and cost of each repair or maintenance project. Ensures that tools, supplies and equipment are inventoried and cleaned if needed, and properly stored at the end of each work day. Assists the Maintenance Branch Manager in inspecting the building and grounds for necessary maintenance or repairs and creating a preventative maintenance plan. Performs other duties as required.
